Enedwaith in general has been an incredible breath of fresh air. Finally being outside in daylight after whatever they were thinking with Mirkwood has been a pleasure. There is one, extremely poorly thought out quest however that has important ramifications. If you like to play an online role-playing game, exploring the areas and discovering things on your own, Turbine is determined to punish you. Apparently if you aren't a self-styled 'hard-core raider who looks everything up online instead of bothering to discover things on your own, Turbine thought it would be funny to screw you.
The quest I am talking about is Feeding the Company. There is a correct quest to take and an incorrect quest to take, you apparently can't take both. If you choose the wrong one, you can't do the correct one and lose out on rep and the rep rewards. It is actually pretty important. That is why after I took the wrong one and looked it up online I discovered that it is pretty well stated on all the forums that I was screwed.
Why would Turbine do this? I assume that it was simply a very poor decision made by someone not thinking clearly and that Turbine will fix this and not do anything this stupid in the future.
For those of you who don't know, there are two quests. If you happen upon the incorrect one first, as you most likely will if you are going through the zone correctly, there is a warning at the bottom that you can't do this and the other quest. Since this quest is clearly marked repeatable, a native English speaker would conclude that each day one can only choose one or the other.
Unfortunately, that is what they said, not what they meant. The other quest isn't even close by. It's across the valley at a place you will eventually come across. A rational person would try the one quest, see what it is about, and when encountering the other NPC, try that quest and choose each day which to do.
Tricked You! screams Turbine!!! ha-ha-ha!
You can't do the other quest, which as it turns out, is the correct one to do because you already tried the other quest last week.
So Turbine, fix this issue so we can do the correct quest. And then try running the text of quests by someone who doesn't work in your building. Just because you know what you meant, and people who have been working with you know what you meant doesn't mean that people coming across something for the first time know what you meant.
If players must look everything up online before they play your game than it really isn't offering much to non-raiders. If you want us to make an either/or choice, present the options at the same time and be clear that you are making an either/or decision based on such and such. Stop punishing your players for playing the game.
